Christopher Egan

Chris Egan’s military experience with the US Army (Special Operations, Ret.) makes him a welcomed and valuable part of 18Hz. Having worked in a many different geographic settings in both remote and densely populated spaces, his awareness and considered response times come from vast amounts of time spent practicing both. He is incredibly well-suited to teach ordered and specific observation of immediate surroundings, environments, and how light and shadow interact to give a sense of a space’s history as well as its current state. This not only strengthens desirable safety protocols for our events, but also contributes directly to the creative work we do, especially in the areas of observational journaling, data visualization and placed-based art and writing. He comes by his interest in liminal spaces honestly, as his wartime service included several mysterious or unexplainable occurrences experienced firsthand in a number of different locales. He lives in Vermont with his family and a rotating influx of about a dozen delightful dogs being boarded, trained and fostered.
